Why I wrote “why War”
As I watch the world today, the situation abroad feels like it’s slipping further into darkness rather than healing. Conflicts rage on, and mothers continue to weep for their lost children. This pain is unbearable, and it inspired me to write “Why War” — a song born from frustration, grief, and a fierce hope that things can change.
“Why War” is not just another song. It’s my urgent cry for peace, understanding, and for humanity to step back from the brink of destruction. Through cinematic rock and soaring orchestration, I wanted to create a powerful anthem that both confronts harsh realities and offer a message of Peace.
Behind the Scenes:
The making of “Why War” was an intense and deeply emotional journey. It started in quiet reflection, grappling with the stories and images of conflict that filled the news. I experimented playing with my piano, trying to find the sound that could carry both the weight of sorrow and a sense of defiant hope.
Collaborating with international producer Big Production’s Brad Grobler in his studio in Rotterdam, NL, was a wonderful and relaxing experience. Thank you, Brad, for this amazing production and for showing me Rotterdam, which inspired me to write “Starving for Your Love.”
Brad added rich layers to the song — epic choirs, sweeping strings, and dynamic rock energy all came together to create the cinematic soundscape I envisioned. Recording the vocals was especially powerful; I wanted to balance fragility with strength, conveying raw emotion without losing clarity or impact.
Every note and lyric was carefully crafted to serve the song’s message: a call for peace that is uncompromising yet deeply human. The process was challenging but ultimately rewarding, allowing me to pour my heart into a song that I hope will resonate with listeners worldwide.
My hope is that this song can make a difference, even if in a small way: that it reaches the hearts of those who listen, opens eyes to the cost of war, and inspires us all to imagine a world where mothers no longer mourn and where peace replaces conflict.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Music has the power to heal and unite, and together, we can strive for a better tomorrow.
